Katherine and Andy

Katherine and Andy

When you hire a photographer, you might think you are just hiring a single company that stands completely alone.  But for many photographers, we are part of local, state and national organizations that support one another and the entire industry as a whole.  Here in Tallahassee, the Tallahassee Professional Photographers Guild (TPPG) is a very tight knit group not just with our friendships, but also in the amount of support we give each other.

So, when I got a phone call at 6:45 in the morning asking for help, the answer was yes before the question was finished.  The concern on my side was never about the work, but the help of my friend and fellow photographer, Charlotte Fristoe.  If you know Charlotte, she is one of the most hard working, dedicated people you will ever meet.  While photographing a wedding, Charlotte actually had a brain aneurysm rupture and through her commitment to her work, she finished photographing the wedding.  When the stubborn girl finally went to the emergency room, she had to have brain surgery and her biggest worry was getting other photographers to cover her upcoming weddings!

I was honestly honored that I was Charlotte’s first choice to photograph Katherine and Andy’s Tallahassee wedding.  I got to meet them less than two weeks before the wedding and I just fell in love with them.  They are so laid back and their joy was absolutely contagious.  When talking about the wedding their focus was in the absolute right place– in their love and love for Katherine’s daughter.  After meeting them I was thrilled to capture their day and celebrate not only their union but also their new family!

Before the end of the night, Charlotte had already texted me to check in on the day.  I swear that girl is counting down the days until she can get back to work!  Since I had to rush out of town after the wedding, two other TPPG members- Kylene Gay (www.kyleneandryan.com) and Steven Saccio  (www.stevensaccio.com) covered the end of the reception so I wouldn’t have to leave too late.  It was such a team effort and I am even more proud to be a TPPG member and call these amazing professionals my friends!

So, congratulations to Katherine and Andy and a huge get well to Charlotte Fristoe!

Its such an honor when photographers choose you to be THEIR photographer, but when you are hired to do their wedding photography, it definitely means you have to bring your “A” game!  It didn’t hurt that they had perfect Tallahassee weather and they hired the best Tallahassee wedding vendors!  The whole day was amazing from start to finish with so much emotion, laughter and love.  Thank you again to Melina and Bob for choosing me to be your wedding photographer!

Sarah and Mikey

Sarah and Mikey

Ahhh!  Where can I even begin with Sarah and Mikey’s wedding!?  Sarah got engaged not long after she started working for me, so I was a part of the plans from the beginning.  Sarah really wanted her wedding to be different and she went with an old west theme, and carefully incorporated touches of Texas, Mikey’s home state.  She was adamant that she wanted things to be authentic, to not be cookie cutter and to make things really fun.  She undoubtedly succeeded!

More than the theme or the decor, the most notable thing of the day was the emotion.  From Sarah’s tears reading Mikey’s letter, Mikey holding back a sob as his bride walked down the aisle, to Sarah’s squeal of joy as they were announced husband and wife and finally to their joined laughter as the ran through their ribbon exit.  I feel so honored and privileged that I could be a part of their day and I am also proud of myself for managing to hold my own tears back!

Shelby and Blake’s Southwood Wedding

Shelby and Blake’s Southwood Wedding

Shelby and Blake had the perfect southern wedding at Tallahassee’s Southwood Plantation House.  With no detail left unattended, the two exchanged vows under the ancient oak on the plantation house lawn.  Their guests joined them under the chandeliers and garden lights behind the house for the reception.  The day was beyond perfect– beautiful weather, gorgeous scenery, joyous guests and a truly awesome couple!  Congratulations to Shelby and Blake!

Sarah’s Bridal Portraits

Sarah’s Bridal Portraits

When I photograph someone close to me, I get extra nervous.  When its someone I love, I sweat bullets.  I want to do my very very best work for them.  For Sarah, we decided to do her bridal portraits while we were in Panama City working.  We scouted several spots, but when the time came, we were running to stay ahead of the setting sun.  In the end, the sun set in exactly the perfect way to give Sarah a surreal, golden glow.  I sighed a big sigh of relief once I clicked the shutter because I knew I had captured Sarah just as I had imagined in my mind.sarahb1
