Its not that common that a couple is completely comfortable in front of the camera, but sometimes it can work to your advantage. Mary Elizabeth and Johnny warned us that they are a bit camera shy at the start of the session and gave us the perfect opening to get some great laughs from them! It only took a few jokes on our part and they were cracking each other up and playing around. I was so glad we were able to squeeze in their engagement portraits before they headed back to Alabama!

Its not every day a bride comes to you with a new idea for her engagement portraits, but I have to admit, Shana came up with an idea I don’t think I would have thought of! She wanted to do her engagement session at Wakulla Springs… but… wait for it… IN THE WATER! How cool is that!? She and Joe were super troopers for the session! While the park opened at 8, they don’t open the water until 9… or 9:35 on the day we went. Despite the blazing sun for the first half of the session and the chilly water for the second part, they were so awesome and wonderful to work with. So here is one last YEA! for a creative bride who gives me something totally new to work with!

I love love LOVE photographing at night. I love the mood, I love the drama and I love the flocks of people that stop to stare at us! 😛 Victoria and Jermaine were the perfect couple for a modern nighttime session– they have the perfect look for some really powerful images. And, everyone probably knows, I LOVE drama (but only the good kind!).

Kerry and Lee’s parents seem to think they never kiss. I have half of downtown Tallahassee that can testify to the contrary. 😉 They are such a fun couple and Lee is the farthest thing from serious, so getting some lovey dovey images was a trick. We just had to time the images in between his jokes and silly faces!

I can’t even begin to tell you the last time we did an engagement session at FSU– its seriously been YEARS! Oh campus, how I have missed you! I had the best time re-exploring FSU with Mandi and Adam! It was especially cool since the university is what brought them together. So, a little seminole love for the bride and groom to be!

As a photographer you are faced with many challenges– lighting, posing, uncooperative subjects, time, etc. You learn to adapt and prepare for these challenges. Nothing prepared me for sprinklers. When we arrived at Maclay Gardens, it looked like a wonderful morning– bright sunshine! Within minutes, the massive sprinkler system for the gardens kicked on and the entire walkway was in a downpour. We grabbed our gear and headed for the back way in. While I didn’t prepare for sprinklers, the change in plans pushed me to explore new parts of the gardens and I think I found some new favorite spots! So here’s to a new challenge, and a new success!
