There is something so very special about a family’s first portrait. No matter how many come after it, those are the ones you always look back to as the beginning. I always feel so honored when a family chooses us to capture that special time for them. The Curry family was absolutely adorable and I instantly fell in love with little Mr. C. He is definitely going to be a heart breaker!!

Work is just not work when you get to go play with people like Addison and her parents. We had such a great time at her 9 month portrait session and I was thrilled to get to meet Harley, the other “baby” in the family!

As a photographer you are faced with many challenges– lighting, posing, uncooperative subjects, time, etc. You learn to adapt and prepare for these challenges. Nothing prepared me for sprinklers. When we arrived at Maclay Gardens, it looked like a wonderful morning– bright sunshine! Within minutes, the massive sprinkler system for the gardens kicked on and the entire walkway was in a downpour. We grabbed our gear and headed for the back way in. While I didn’t prepare for sprinklers, the change in plans pushed me to explore new parts of the gardens and I think I found some new favorite spots! So here’s to a new challenge, and a new success!
Usually its the kids who get Olyn and I laughing, but not this time! The Marsh family was in the studio this week and they had us laughing to the point of tears. Its so wonderful to photograph “grown up” families, as we tend to stop getting portraits done once we grow up. I hope this is the perfect Mother’s Day gift this year!
