“Rain” is definitely a four letter word when it comes to weddings. No bride wants rain on their wedding day and I think the “10 day weather forecasts” only exist to make brides crazy worrying. We tell brides that rain on their wedding day means good luck to make them feel better, but for Jenny and Sergio’s destination wedding in historic St. Augustine, the rain really works in their wedding photos! (and I don’t just say that to make them feel better about the weather!) The storm clouds and moody light really add to the weathered and time worn look of historic St. Augustine where they wed in a beautiful historic church. So, for once, I can be happy about rain on a wedding day!
I have photographed dozens of weddings at the Retreat at Bradley’s Pond, but Ashley and Levi’s decor is hands down my favorite! I don’t think there was a single detail left unattended and everything had such a romantic, southern flair! September weddings in Tallahassee are always warm, but with beautiful blue skies, we really couldn’t complain!
Abby and Travis were married on the lawn in front of the Southwood House with a garden reception in the back. It was the longest day of the year and the perfect start to the summer. From the ceremony on the lawn to the tented reception, everything just said “Southern Summer” to me… including the severe weather alerts and the thunderstorms that scooted by just before the ceremony! Shelby and Trevor had such a perfect Tallahassee winter wedding at the University Center Club! The weather outside was gloomy, but it just added to the cozy, intimate feeling inside! I so love that they chose us to share in their special day– we have been photographing Shelby’s family for years and it meant so much to Olyn and I that we could be a part of this union.
