Baby Karaline

I was so excited to meet baby Karaline yesterday-- I absolutely love her family and I have been waiting to meet her since her mom came in for maternity portraits. I spent the morning at the family's home, doing some studio type images of Karaline alone, but also doing some documentary lifestyle portraits of her with her family.

I have to say she is the most alert newborn I have ever seen! She is only a week old and is already trying to hold her head up for long periods of time. The session lasted nearly two hours and Karaline's eyes only closed for a brief moment. Most newborns have trouble keeping awake for even a few moments of the session-- we honestly could not get Karaline to sleep at ALL! Hopefully, she slept well yesterday afternoon and let her parents rest a bit!

Baby Tre

Baby Tre was back in the studio on Friday for his 9 month portraits. Tre has always been a portrait all-star for me -- never crying or fussing and always grinning like crazy. I tell all the parents that every baby has one "off" day where they just aren't up for it. This was Tre's "off" day, and I can honestly say he was still one of the cutest, sweetest babies I work with. Baby Magdalene

I think every parent can attest to the fact that babies have a sixth sense about when things are scheduled. Most babies just KNOW they are supposed to be good at a certain time, and that will be inevitably the day they miss a nap or had a bad night of sleep or are just crabby. Miss Magdalene is no exception-- she decided to boycott her nap on Thursday before her 3 month portraits. She was so tired, but we did manage to get some smiles and sweet faces. Baby Caden

Yesterday was a big reminder to me of how important my work is. I went to meet Baby Caden at his home yesterday afternoon for his newborn session. I absolutely love his parents and I have photographed their engagement portraits, their wedding, their maternity portraits and now their son. Walking into their home, it really hit me that my work is all over their home. That the images I had created mean so much to them that they have them displayed in almost every room of the house. It definitely made me reflect on how rewarding my job is!

Baby Caden was absolutely adorable and very much alert! He watched me almost the entire session! I don't think I have ever had a newborn that awake and alert!

Big Boy Hunter!

Hunter is a year old! Wow! I can't believe he is walking and running! I always tell people that the first and last sessions of the baby plan are the most difficult. :) The first session the baby generally only wants to be held and cries a bit. The last session they are all over the place, crawling, running and climbing. Hunter was definitely no exception! He really made me work for it! :)
