Stephanie and David

Olyn and I were in Thomasville this weekend for Stephanie and David's Coalson Plantation wedding. These two had one of the most personal ceremonies I have ever heard-- the officiant actually had letters from the bride and groom to each other as well as stories their families had given him! It was so incredibly moving, sweet and funny all at the same time!
The weather was absolutely stunning, but changed all day long! From sunny to cloudy and windy!
The little flowergirl broke her elbow a week before the wedding, but she was so incredibly sweet! The kids stayed inside for the ceremony, but she stayed glued to the window, watching her "princess" aunt.
The groom's nephew didn't seem to be as interested in the ceremony...We had a few minutes of quiet time after the ceremony...I loved Stephanie's dress-- the corset backs always look so romantic!David was a real trooper in his all black tux in the sun.Penny did a phenomenal job with the reception decor-- the Showboat looked great and everything went so smoothly!
One of the major things I like about the Showboat is the balcony, so you can see the entire reception. And they ended the night with a sparkler farewell.Vendors:

Melissa & Davis

Melissa and Davis were married last Saturday at Coalson Plantation in Thomasville, GA. Olyn photographed the day's events with the helping hand of our good friend Mandy Mayfield of Mayfield Photography. The rainy weather required some last minute changes to their plans, but the smiles on Melissa and Davis' faces are proof that a little gloomy weather couldn't dampen their special day!

I love Mandy's image of Melissa coming down the stairs!
I think my favorite part of the day comes between the formal portraits and the reception. This is the time when our couples can spend a few minutes together before the whirlwind of dances, toasts and hugs.
Penny at Coalson Plantation did an amazing job on all the flowers!
Melissa has one of those infectious smiles. It is so genuine that it makes you want to smile too!

Sarah and Rob

I joined Sarah and Rob yesterday at Melhana Plantation (now Coalson Plantation) for their low-key wedding. Everyone was so relaxed and joyful-- it really set the mood for the whole day!

Lately, my bride's have had the best shoes, and Sarah was no exception!
Sarah's pearl bracelet is a family heirloom passed down from her Great Grandmother from Italy.
The word of the day? CHEESE!
Sarah and Rob got cards for each other and sent them via the maid of honor. Call it kizmet or fate, but they bought each other the EXACT same card!!
There are times when you look through the viewfinder and what you see takes your breath away...
And a little love for the groom...

It was so funny as I posed the bride and groom for their portaits... they already knew what I was going to say, as we did their engagement portraits in the same spot! It really challenged me to do completely different things with the same location.
You can tell that the background is just a bit hazy in this shot. As we were finishing the portraits, the smoke from the wildfires really started to roll in.
Doesn't Sarah have the cutest dimple? This shot is ALL Rob-- I won't take credit for it at all. What else would a PE teacher want to do than a human pyramid?
Myra Jean's once again did an amazing job with the cake! We did a few quick farewell shots before sunset...
...but I don't think Sarah and Rob will get too far with this kind of horsepower!

Reagan and Jason

Olyn had the opportunity to photograph Reagan and Jason's wedding at Melhana Plantation on Saturday. They could not have asked for better weather for their breezy outdoor ceremony! In spite of a few minor mishaps, including a dip in the pool to retrieve a wayward wedding band, Reagan and Jason's wedding really embraced the casual elegance that is Melhana Plantation. The native camellias adorning the arbor, the unique fish hook boutonnieres for the guys and the canine wedding attendants really gave their wedding a personal flair.

Reagan's beautiful spring bouquet which really matched the feel of the day:

A little mood music:I love how intently Jason watched Reagan come down the aisle.

And they couldn't wait for their first kiss! Some puppy love!Reagan and Jason had one of the best cakes I've seen in quite a while. After a little coaching on where to cut the cake, they did great!

Lauren & Krayton

Olyn and I photographed Lauren and Krayton's wedding yesterday at Melhana Plantation. I really thought these guys cracked me up at their engagement session-- but it was no comparison to their wedding day! I think they have to be the funniest couple I have ever photographed!

Whether it was Lauren's fly-away veil....
or trying to figure out which hand the ring went on...

or a little impromptu karaoke and a midnight swim!
Here is one of Lauren's few serious moments.

I was lucky enough to photograph Missy Gunnels' gorgeous floral creations two weeks in a row!
Tiki's Tasties amazed me with the cake! I couldn't believe the bow was actually made of fondant! In fact, it took forever for Olyn to believe me that it was edible!!

Kristine and Zack

Yesterday, Olyn and I photographed Kristine and Zack's wedding and Thomasville First Methodist Church and their reception at Melhana Plantation.

Kristine and Zack's rings with their napkins of the signature midnight blue color.

They had four of the sweetest flowergirls who were so wonderful as we did a lot of portraits outside in the chilly weather!

Kristine and Zack hopped into their limo for a quick trip around the block while their guests left the church.

Kristine and Zack wanted a few traditional portraits in front of the Melhana Main House.

Followed by a few artistic shots around the Melhana grounds.

Kristine and Zack with one of Mike's Limos.
Kristine and Zack had one of the most romantic fist dances at the Showboat Theater.

And one of the most animated bouquet tosses!

Sarah and Rob

I joined Sarah and Rob yesterday at Melhana Plantation for their engagement session. As much as I love Maclay Gardens, I am so jazzed to shoot engagements at less popular locations. It really gives me an opportunity to create some different types of images.

The more traditional look:

A bit romantic:
A tad eclectic:

And one of the best action sequences I have seen lately!
