Meet Katie!

So, I have gotten lots of questions about who is answering the phones here at the studio… so let me introduce our new office manager, Katie! We were really sad when Morgan had to leave to go back to school, but so thankful that Katie has been able to step into her shoes. Katie is the one calling to confirm your appointments, schedule your pickups, etc. She is here almost every afternoon, so if you want to be sure to get ahold of the person in the know, be sure to call when Katie is here!

You might not be thinking about Christmas yet, but here at the studio, we are getting ready to go into high gear for the holidays! We want to reward our early bird families with a great portrait special– we will be taking sessions all day October 23rd at Dorothy B. Oven park for only $75! Annual Pumpkin Patch Portraits! & Tallahassee childrens photographers

There is a breath of fall in the air already, so lets start celebrating the end of summer! We will be hosting our Annual Pumpkin Patch Portraits outside the studio on Saturday, October 2nd! We will be setting up a full pumpkin patch here at the studio, so everything is right here for you! With the sessions being early this year, you can have your prints back in time for Halloween! So whether you are looking for some fall themed portraits or commemorating that super cute Halloween costume, schedule your session now before they are all gone!
The mini sessions are $29 and can accommodate up to three siblings. Sessions are 30 minutes and are for one outfit only. Session times are booked first-come first-serve and require the nonrefundable session fee to reserve your time. Call the studio at 850.339.5799 to reserve your session now!

2010 Boudoir Marathon! & Tallahassee boudoir portraits

Our Annual Boudoir Portrait Marathon is here! We will be at the McFarlin House Bed and Breakfast in Quincy, FL on Saturday, October 9th! If you have ever considered doing a boudoir portrait session before, you don’t want to miss this!

We will only be accepting eight ladies for this year’s marathon and it is guaranteed to book up! The boudoir marathon portrait session includes professional hair and makeup styling, a one hour portrait session with Linda Long at the historic McFarlin House Bed and Breakfast, retouching of all final images and a 20 image black leather 8×8 album! Sessions are already booking, so if you are interested, please contact the studio as soon as possible. A nonrefundable $150 deposit reserves your session and the balance of $450 is due the day of the session. Our Crazy August!

Thank you to everyone for the kind emails and FB messages making sure we were OK, since the blog updates were a bit slow this month. We are more than fine, we are great! Just crazy busy!

At the beginning of the month, we traveled to Orlando for the Florida Professional Photographers’ annual print competition. The results were super exciting for us! We entered albums for the first time in competition and BOTH of our albums received merits! Then, at the banquet we learned that our albums had placed second and third statewide in their category. Then, we received the Reedy Album Award for first time entry of albums! To say were were shocked is an understatement! Two of my prints also received merits, so it to put it mildly, it was an absolutely amazing competition for us!

I was also recognized at the banquet, receiving the Outstanding Service Award for the work I have been doing with the Tallahassee Professional Photographers’ Guild. Coming back to Tallahassee, Olyn and I had a short amount of time to prepare for the program we were presenting to the Guild on workflow and time management. That presentation was last week and was a great success! We are now scheduled to travel to other guilds to teach more photographers!

Olyn and I are completely overwhelmed with gratitude and emotion to this great group of photographers we have the pleasure of working with, learning from and giving back to. Through their support and guidance, we have both become better photographers. Thank you so much to our clients for their support, their cheerleading and their excitement. Sharing our successes with you is so awesome! And a HUGE thank you to our families who are the people who keep us sane! We are truly two of the luckiest people in the world!

Angel Babies- August 28th & Tallahassee baby photographers

Y’all have probably already seen a glimpse of our new project on the blog, but I am so excited to formally announce our next portrait special– Angel Babies!

On Saturday, August 28th from 8am until 4pm, angels will be taking over our studio! We are offering angel themed mini portrait sessions for children under the age of 3 for only $29. This will be the ONLY time this year that we will be using our angel costumes, so if you are looking to capture those innocent faces, now is the time!

You are welcome to bring your own outfits– or use one of ours! We have a wide array of tutus, pettiskirts, overalls, etc. Each session can accommodate one outfit, so browse through the blog for ideas or drop us a line for help!

Sessions are by appointment only and are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. The session can be for a single child or up to two siblings. Children must be able to sit unassisted! Session fee includes the studio portrait session, artist grade retouching, in studio order session and online gallery. To schedule your session, call the studio at 850.339.5799 with a Visa, Mastercard or Discover card and we will get a time reserved for you!

Olyn again won one of the categories at the Tallahassee Professional Photographers’ Guild meeting! Each month, the local professional photographers get together for print competition, education and networking. Olyn has had a really great year competing each month and I am so proud of him! This month, Olyn won in the challenge category, which gives a different topic each month. This month was, “Use of an Unconventional Light Source”, and this was his image of the gorgeous Miss Hannah!

Each winning print earns points and at the end of the year, the photographer with the most points is named “Tallahassee Photographer of the Year”. I won the award last year and Olyn is competing hard to win it this year. This award has a lot of significance to us, as it is something earned through photographic excellence and it is from a group of our colleagues.

Next month, we are thrilled to be presenting to the Tallahassee Professional Photographers– we are preparing a program on streamlining workflow, so for all the photographers who regularly read our blog, please come out to the meeting to see us! Our speakers normally come from all over Florida and the Southeast, so we are very honored to be considered in the same light! The meeting is August 26th at 6pm at Beef O’Brady’s on Thomasville Rd. We have some amazing companies who are helping sponsor our program and they have supplied some awesome door prizes. Olyn and I promise that while the topic might seem boring, the program will be fun and you will go home with at LEAST one major time saver! Pricing Adjustments

Effective August 1st, we will be adjusting some of our print pricing. Small prints such as 5×7s and 8×10s will see a small increase, while some of the larger sizes and framing options will now include some more affordable options. We are also broadening the lineup of albums that we have available for portrait clients. We are always committed to providing our clients with the widest range of products and price points and we will continue to search for new, innovative and contemporary products.

All sessions booked for the month of August will receive current print pricing, and any sessions scheduled after August 30th will receive the new pricing. As always, we are happy to answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to email Linda@LongsPhotography.com

The Cute Kid Contest Results!

After checking and double checking all the votes and email addresses, we have a winner in the Cute Kid Contest! Thanks to everyone who participated and who voted! In the end, the contest was REALLY close between the top three, so we are naming one winner and two runners up. Congratulations to our winner– Kid #14! And also to our runners up– Kid #2 and Kid #16! The winner is receiving a free session with Linda and Olyn Long and a framed 11×14 print! The runners up are receiving free sessions!

We will be gearing up for our next contest in a few weeks, but this time it will be a Facebook only contest! So, if you have not already joined as a fan of Long’s Photography, be sure to go add us so you won’t miss any of the fun!
