It always cracks me up that arms seem to come out of nowhere in all the getting ready photos.
Totally real moment as Andrea watches her bridesmaids fight with her crinoline.
Quick portraits in the getting ready room as the coordinator hides Brian.
The incredible Missy Gunnels did the flowers-- I swear she is a genius!
Everyone is probably sick of me raving about Trinity Reformed Church, but I absolutely love working there!
A little fun with the "formals".
The weather was less than nice, so we were pretty limited in our locations for outside portraits, but I love this spot at the church!
The very sweet first dance...
with a bit of drama...
I love how Missy jazzed up the cake with flowers.
Ok... this is one of the funniest things I have ever photographed. Admittedly, I fell in love with this flowergirl (how can you not, she is one of the cutest kids on Earth!) The next three images read together as she attempts to lick the back of the plate to get every bit of icing.Labels: Missy Gunnels Flowers, publix cakes, The Retreat at Bradley's Pond, Trinity Reformed Church
The more political shot of Ron...
Brittany got cold waiting for her dad to change clothes, so she stole her mom's coat. I thought poor Cathy was going to get hypothermia!
They are really such a close family.

It was really cool to have free reign of a church-- most churches really limit where we can be during the ceremony. This corner of the room allowed me to get wonderful reaction shots during the ceremony.
I think the ringbearer might have been at the bachelor party-- the 90 minute mass was a challenge for him to stay awake!
I impressed myself on Saturday... I don't think I have ever shot that many formal groups in that timeframe before. Thao and Johnny were such troopers as we did a million family groupings!
The reception decor was absolutely stunning! The guests were really pampered through the seven course meal!
After dinner, Thao changed into a traditional dress and the couple had their first dance.
I really enjoyed learning another culture's wedding traditions. I think my favorite was the toasts. The bride and groom go to each table and one person from the table gives them a toast. It was so funny to watch their reactions as table after table wished them lots of children!

I love Mandy's image of Melissa coming down the stairs!
I think my favorite part of the day comes between the formal portraits and the reception. This is the time when our couples can spend a few minutes together before the whirlwind of dances, toasts and hugs.
Penny at Coalson Plantation did an amazing job on all the flowers!
Melissa has one of those infectious smiles. It is so genuine that it makes you want to smile too!

The groom alone before the ceremony.
The bride's beautiful gown.
I love shooting at First Baptist-- they have balconies that go all around the church, so you can very unobtrusively get awesome close ups of the ceremony.
And shots that really show the entire event-- from the couple to all their guests in the audience.
A quick bridal portrait of Casi before we were out of light.
With the days so short this time of year, it was completely dark when we got to the couple's portrait time. So, we did the mandatory "formal" portraits inside and then went outside for a very different look.
It was my first time shooting at the TCC Center downtown, which was just a short walk from the church. The reception really seemed to fly past for everyone!

Casi and Rob had an awesome sparkler farewell! To those thinking of doing sparklers, let me encourage you to use the same ones they did. The long sparklers really burn for awhile, while the short ones go out within 20-30 seconds. The guests were still playing with the sparklers, even after the couple had left!

To me, a wedding is really defined by the personal touches. Katie wore her grandmother's garter, which her mom also wore. The history of it was so cool, but it was also beautiful!
Trinity Reformed Church is my favorite church in town-- Olyn and I are always welcomed with open arms and they focus so much on the couple's wishes. It was a bit surprising when we walked in, though-- they have installed shutters over the huge frosted glass windows at the alter! :( This shot of Olyn's still looks awesome though-- the darkness of the shutters adds a really dramatic look.
We had a few minutes to play after we finished the "boring" church formals. :) Who says every shot inside has to be boring??
Of course, we also had to run outside for a few last shots before sunset!
Vince really out-did himself with the flowers! The simple reception decor really played into the overall feeling of understated elegance.
Katie and Christian had the sweetest first dance.
Katie rocked yet another awesome cake! I think Katie's style is so defined that I can walk into a room and instantly know if it is one of her cakes.
At the cake cutting, things started getting a little rowdy...
And it only escalated from there!
You know you had a great party when there are still tons of people to send you off!
