Andrea and Brian

I have been at Dorothy B. Oven so often lately, it was really nice to do a session at Maclay Gardens! The gardens have special meaning for Andrea and Brian, as they used to spend lots of time at the park talking when they first starting dating.

Want your album for Christmas??

That's right, its time again to talk about album deadlines! Woo. :) We have been given a variety of different deadlines from our album suppliers, so the easiest answer is to get your album approved ASAP! :)

If you have a draft of your album and you would like edits made, we must receive your printed draft with the edits clearly marked no later than November 5th. If you do not need any edits and you are ready for your album to be printed as is, you must get the printed draft back to us no later than November 10th. Remember, these are the LATEST possible dates you can submit designs and still have a chance at getting the album before December 25th.

Unfortunately, if you have not yet submitted your image choices for your design, we will not be able to produce your album before January. We are bumping all existing drafts to the front of the line so they can have their albums by the holidays. Once all holiday deliveries are made, we can focus on new album designs.

Thanks so much to everyone for their patience while we juggle all these designs and edits!

Melissa & Davis

Olyn had another engagement session last night at Dorothy B. Oven Park. It isn't easy to be comfortable in front of a camera, but after just a few minutes Melissa and Davis were right at home.

Whitney & Michael

Although I have lived in Tallahassee for close to ten years now, yesterday was the first time I had ever been to Lake Talquin! After a bit of confusion, I caught up with Whitney and Michael for a sunset engagement session on the lake.

It's Cowboy Day!

It was Cowboy Day today at Thatcher's daycare. I snuck out of the office for about an hour to go see him ride a pony and play on the playground. :) He loved the pony-- he patted it for the longest time and kept waving "hi!" every time the pony walked by!

The Thomas Family

I love the Thomas family-- I really do! I photographed Mary Beth and Michael's wedding back in March and we caught up again yesterday to do their Christmas family portraits. They are the sweetest, friendliest family I have ever worked with. I had so much fun out at Dorothy B. Oven park with them!

Hayley and Matt

After weeks of trying to get our schedules to match, I finally caught up with Hayley and Matt at the cars in Crawfordville. Hayley wanted really unique portraits and since Matt is a mechanic, the cars were the perfect location!
For those of you who don't know, Hayley is the owner of Hayley Lauren Couture here in Tallahassee. She designs and creates beautiful gowns as well as doing alterations and tailoring. You can check out her website at http://www.hayleylaurencouture.net

The Christmas Special

I know many of you have heard about the Christmas special from our mailing list, or from Tammy Webb on Star 98. We are getting lots of calls with lots of questions, so here are the details!

On November 12, 17 and 18 we will be scheduling 1/2 hour portrait sessions back-to-back all day long at Dorothy B. Oven Park or Maclay Gardens. The $50 session includes the session fee for up to five people/animals, online proofing and 24 custom designed holiday cards using your images. How easy is that!?

There are only 45 total spots and we are booking them quickly! I do expect to book in full and we will likely have a waiting list. If you would like to be a part of this special, you should reserve your spot very soon!

If the special dates don't work for your schedule, we are happy to schedule individual family sessions at our normal rates-- starting at $150 with a $150 print credit. You can still do holiday cards as well-- we do custom cards year round (holiday, birth announcement, graduation announcement and birthday invitations) for $25/dozen.

If you have any questions, or if you would like to book your session, please contact me at 850.339.5799 or Linda@LongsPhotography.com

A double-header with IMJ

I spent the weekend with my friends Monica and Jacob of IMJ Photography. It is always refreshing to second shoot-- when you are not responsible for all the staple shots, you really can be creative and push yourself to notice all kinds of things.

Wedding One was Lindsay and Mike in Jacksonville. While Lindsay got ready, we borrowed her rings-- I found the pages of the bible were a fitting place for detail shots.
Lindsay and Mike chose to see each other before the ceremony, so we had an opportunity to capture their private moment.
I have had to fight a few guys in the past to keep them still for formals, but this was definitely a new tactic! I don't think all the guests were that focused on the exchange of vows... This one might take you a minute to get....
If you couldn't get the angle of the above shot, here's your hint!
I loved how much fun Lindsay and Michael had all day-- they were all smiles!
This has to be the cutest groom's cake I have EVER seen! And I think I'm not the only one with that opinion.
Lindsay and Mike had a rose petal farewell to see them off from the country club.
Wedding Two was in Gainesville with Sarah and Greg. And again, I had the rings and a few minutes to play. One awesome pair of shoes and 10 minutes of balancing... voila!
Before Sarah and Greg's wedding, I decided to give myself a challenge and focus on one thing to tell the story. (I did a lot more than just the challenge, but I really like the way it turned out) The focus was hands. Hands with rings, hands with the dress, holding hands, etc.Sarah and Greg also chose to see each other before the ceremony, which worked out well, as we JUST beat the torrental downpour!
Sarah and her dad waiting just outside the Baughman Center, in the rain, waiting to walk down the aisle.
The Baughman Center is such a great ceremony location-- with lots of natural light and an intimate feel, I am so jealous I don't get to shoot there more often!
Again, during the ceremony, I focused on their hands and created this series.
The reception had to be one of the most active I have ever seen! The dancefloor was packed all night!
At the end of the night, Sarah and Greg snuck away for some romantic portraits.
Thanks again to Monica and Jacob for letting me stretch my creative wings and have some fun! :)

Monkey on the Loose!

Olyn and I did Thatcher's Halloween portraits this evening so we can send photos to his grandparents. Not that I am at all biased.... but he is seriously the cutest monkey-- EVER! Most kids at this age really aren't in to wearing a costume, but he LOVED it! He ran around the studio stomping his feet, giggling and squealing SO loudly.
Just a reminder to everyone that we will be doing kids portraits ON HALLOWEEN! Its a quick 15 minute session with online proofing and your choice of a 5x7-- only $15! Many of you have heard Tammy talking about us on Star 98 and Halloween time slots are going quickly! We would love to see you and your kiddos on the 31st-- so call and schedule an appointment!

Heidi and Brett

I have wanted to do an engagement session at the railroad tracks for ages, but no one seemed to get my vision. When I suggested it to Heidi and Brett, they jumped at the idea! Heidi's dad is a train enthusiast and she grew up with lots of toy trains.

Vanessa and Matt

Olyn and I spent yesterday in Thomasville at Pebble Hill Plantation photographing Vanessa and Matt's wedding. Vanessa works as a catering manager at Andrews 228, so it was such an honor that a fellow vendor selected us for her wedding! Through our professional ties and through the wedding planning, I look at Vanessa as more of a friend than a client.

We had such an amazing time with Vanessa, Matt and their families yesterday. The weather was perfect, the location ideal, the food delicious, and the emotions intoxicating. All this combined resulted in images that were just too hard to narrow down! I know I say this a lot, but I just couldn't choose, so bear with me as I give you a novel of an entry!

Missy Gunnels outdid herself once again with the bouquets. Seriously, this woman never ceases to amaze me.
Vanessa's lace dress not only fit like a glove, but it really embraced her 1940's vintage feel. The ceremony site underneath the large oak provided shade from the setting sun.Vanessa and her dad are so close, I am surprised he was able to give her away! The entire ceremony ran high with emotion-- I think most of the bridal party and the guests pulled out their tissues. Vanessa and Matt are such troopers-- they were up for any ideas that I had. Starting with a simple stroll...To going down into the "dungeon".I learned a very important lesson on the power of candy corn and posing children...The sun set just as the reception got underway, adding the slightest fall chill to the air.Vanessa and Matt are one of those couples that just make sense together. Its hard to even imagine them apart! The cake cutting had a not-s0-neat ending...This has to be the funniest image of the entire day. As Vanessa tossed her bouquet, she THOUGHT she had a wardrobe malfunction! At the very end of the night, the newlyweds snuck off for a few final shots.

Tammy & Chris

I met Tammy and Chris this morning at Dorothy B. Oven park for a "newlywed session". Today was their three month anniversary! These two are so cute and full of energy! They made my job sooo easy-- they cracked each other up the entire time!

For those of you who don't know, Tammy is one part of the morning radio show on Star 98.9. She is as sweet and genuine in person as she is on the radio! I had a blast getting to know her and her new hubby! (You can check out Star98 online at http://www.mystar98.com/)

Will's 9 month portraits

I had a sunrise portrait session this morning in Carrabelle for Will's 9 month session. Normally babies love playing in the sand, but Will just wasn't feeling it. We changed the plan a little bit and managed to still include the scenery. :)
