Jennifer's Maternity Portraits

Jennifer and Allan came by the studio yesterday for a maternity session. This laid-back couple kept me laughing the whole time they were here. :) I can't wait to meet Miss No-Name Baby Girl when she arrives later this fall!

Baby Jason

Baby Jason came by the studio yesterday for a nap... I mean his newborn portrait session. I have never seen a baby this content to sleep anywhere! From the looks of things, he is letting his mommy get some rest! Honestly, the only way to keep this guy awake is to keep him naked! Thank goodness its still so warm in Tallahassee!

Day In the Life-- Eli, Sarah and Savannah

Eli, Sarah and Savannah are some of my favorite clients-- they are always game for any of my new ideas. So they were the perfect guniea pigs for one of our newest offerings-- Day in the Life Portraits. We spend the day with your family, capturing you as you truly are in your everyday.

For Eli, Sarah and Savannah, we started early, had a little breakfast, watched some TV, played at home, went to the playground, walked Muffy the puppy, went for icecream and then took a nap. Below is just the tiniest peek of a really fun day!

Mary Katherine and Chris

Who says there isn't beautiful weather in August? I got up early yesterday to meet Mary Katherine and Chris at Lake Ella for their engagement portraits. With the sun just coming up and the heat at only 78, we had a blast walking around the lake and watching the baby ducklings!

Scott's Senior Portraits

I met up with Scott and his mom, Maureen, yesterday at Bradfordville Baptist Church for Scott's senior portraits. It was so cool to incorporate one of Scott's passions into his images.

Baby Katalina

If ever I have met a baby that should be a model, its Baby Katalina. At only 21 days old, she is probably the most relaxed, calm and serene infant I have ever seen. She was content to lay just about anywhere, to have her clothes changed numerous times and to be moved all around to get the right angle. The only cry she made was when we were done!

Trash the Dress-- Part Two!

Mandy Mayfield and I teamed up again yesterday for another Trash The Dress shoot. We took Dana and Ayla up in the mountains to Poinsett Bridge. Although the shoot lasted three hours in hundred degree heat, everyone was still in a great mood when we finished up after dark. Having the chance to experiment and push yourself creatively is so amazing and I am so grateful that we had this opportunity!

This will probably be the longest blog post EVER-- I just couldn't narrow down my favorites!

Endless Possibilities (Trash the Dress)

"Trash the Dress" portrait sessions have taken off across the country, but are still relatively new to Tallahassee. For some reason, most brides don't want to roll in the mud in their wedding gowns! But when Mandy Mayfield and I were discussing our ideas for a country themed trashing session, Julie and Allison jumped on board as our models! Its amazing what you can do with models who are up for anything-- the possibilities really are endless.

We finished up the session fairly late yesterday and I have had the hardest time narrowing down my favorites!

A New Challenge

One of the best things about my job is that it is always a challenge. There are always new things to learn or new ideas to test. Every time I pick up a camera I want to create something new, try something I haven't tried before and see what I can create. With that in mind, I offered to photograph Eduardo and Cristina-- award-winning ballroom dancers. Combining a dark setting and fast action can be a photographer's nightmare, but I think we got some really cool images!

On the road

I hit the road this week to see my family in South Carolina. While that may sound like a week of vacation, I have been shooting almost every day! I have some really cool shoots planned while I am here and I think there will be some interesting things on the blog this week!

I started the week by photographing Riley-- she is the daughter of my best childhood friend, Jennifer. Its so funny to see both of our children together... I hardly feel that we are old enough to both be parents! I loved spending time with Jenn and Riley-- Riley is so much like her mommy it really made me laugh!www.LongsPhotography.com

Baby Eli

I was off to a gloomy start this morning when one of my former brides, Melanie, brought her baby boy in for a portrait session. Baby Eli absolutely lights up a room! He had me in stitches the whole time he was here!

Lex's Senior Portraits

You have to be a determined soul to brave 100+ degree heat for portraits! I joined Lex and her mom, Beth, at Maclay Gardens yesterday for Lex's senior portraits. This Chiles High School Senior-to-be was so much fun to be with and was an awesome model as well!

The Prenatal Experience-- How Cool!

Earlier this week I was chatting with Sabrina Miller, the owner of "The Prenatal Experience" here in Tallahassee. The Prenatal Experience is a private 3D/4D ultrasound imaging facility-- that does not only 3D still images, but also video clips! I was absolutely blown away by the things they can do and the quality of the images!

I am so jealous-- I wish this had been around when I was pregnant! The only 3D options then were at the doctors office and they were pretty expensive. The Prenatal Experience has packages starting at $125-- but they are offering a special to all of Long's Photography's clients (and blog stalkers!). If you call Sabrina to schedule your ultrasound and mention that you are one of our clients, you will get a free picture package-- a $20 value!

To know me is to know that I am a huge supporter of local business, but also that I am extremely picky in the businesses that I recommend. Sabrina is not only a total sweetheart, but she really takes care of her clients and the images are amazing!

Ba'Shaun's Maternity Portraits

Ba'Shaun came by the studio yesterday for her maternity portrait session. We were all geared up to include her twin three-year-olds in the session as well, but Rodney and Ryan had other plans for us! You can tell she has nerves of steel as she was able to laugh and model with two less than happy little guys running around! Although the session wasn't exactly as we planned, I still think we got some beautiful images!

Ashley and Kane

In between the rainshowers yesterday afternoon, I met Ashley and Kane at a park near their house for their engagement session. With their wedding only about a month away and a fiance who travels a lot, Ashley is swamped with last minute details! Although she may be stressed, she was an absolute trooper as we shot a very quick session before the rain resumed!

Vanessa and Matt

I caught up with Vanessa and Matt this morning at Maclay Gardens for their engagement session. I can honestly say I have never looked at Maclay Gardens the way Matt did! Mr. Curiousity had Vanessa and I both laughing so hard as he investigated plants and wanted to wade into the lake! I think their fall wedding will really reflect their personalities-- fun, laid back and a tad quirky... well Matt is at least!

Baby Joseph

Ok-- I really do try to only blog a small number of images from portrait sessions, but I really couldn't narrow it down for Baby Joseph! At almost three weeks old, he was such a sweet model for his session yesterday. I think mostly because his mom warned me that he wasn't always the most cooperative model, he decided to prove her wrong!

Shopping Anyone??

That's right-- the new online shopping cart is FINALLY ready! (See I wasn't lying in all these posts!) Olyn and I are really excited about the new cart-- its a lot easier to use and has tons more options!

With the new cart you can:
  1. Preview your images in black and white, sepia tone or with a variety of other effects and borders.
  2. Preview and adjust the crop on your images. Want a vertical 8x10 from a horizontal image? You can now see and adjust the cropping until its exactly what you want!
  3. You can now use your product credits online! Thats right-- you no longer have to email or call in your orders to use your credits! You will have an online code you can enter and it will automatically deduct the amount of your credit! (cool, right?!)
  4. You can order albums online AND select the images you would like included in your album! This means that if your Mother In Law wants an album, she can take care of it herself on her computer!
  5. The actual image number is below each image so there will be no more guessing which image you are referring to!
  6. When you create an account, you can save your favorites and I can actually access them! On the old system your favs were saved directly to your PC and I could not access them.
  7. When you create an account, you can receive reminders of gallery expirations and of any sales we are having!
  8. You can purchase gift certificates online, so if you are trying to save up for an album or a portrait session, you can add Long's Photography to your gift registry!
  9. You can actually zoom in on images to make sure that everyone's eyes are open in those huge group shots.
  10. And most importantly-- if there is a problem I can fix it and we don't have to call a huge corporation! YEA!

If you would like to check out the cart, go to http://www.longsphotography.com/pickpic/gallery/jump.php or you can go to http://www.longsphotography.com/ and click on Proofs.

If you still had an active gallery on Photoreflect, it will still be active and will not be transferred over to the new cart! To view any of the Photoreflect galleries, go to http://www.longsphotography.photoreflect.com/

Thanks to everyone for their support on this and their patience as we switch over to the new system. If you have any problems, or see any room for improvements, PLEASE let us know!
