The importance of photographs...

Olyn and I were recently discussing our wedding packages and the archival DVD we include in the packages. It is so important to me that our clients have a digital backup in case anything were to ever happen to their images.

That's when it hit me... besides living things, what do people run back into a burning home for? Photographs. When people evacuate from hurricanes, they always pack their photographs. When a tornado hits an area one of the biggest losses people mention is their photographs.

It may seem like a piece of paper now, but think what value it could have to you if it is all you had from your belongings? Think of how your children will value those family photos once you are gone, or how they will look back on your wedding album 50 years from now.

So I know some of you are thinking I must be in an extra sappy mood and I probably am, but I thought I would share how I freaked myself out-- once I got poetic it then hit me that it is my job to create these images that people will risk their lives for! EEK! And you thought your job was high-pressure! :)

It is yet again another reason why I love my job and I love my clients-- they are trusting in me and my art to capture those moments for them. It is the most challenging and rewarding job I could ever imagine and one I am truly grateful for.
